Value Engineering Team Leader for Pipeline and Hydraulics. Participated on a Technical Value Engineering Team that studied these two large regional San Diego County adjacent water conveyance and water storage projects. The VE Team identified over $45 Million in feasible construction cost savings.
Lower Northwest Sewer Interceptor Force Main
Sacramento Regional County Sanitary District, Sacramento, CA
Brown & Caldwell Value Engineering Team Member. The Program Manager selected selected Mr. Heden for his hydraulics and pressure pipeline design expertise for the VE Team's review of the preliminary design. Their assignment was to potential cost savings that would not compromise the design intent and the overall benefits that the project provided. The Team was lead by a certified Value Engineering Facilitator and each Team Member identified what each considered the most efficient ideas and calculated the cost savings associated with each idea. Each idea and cost saving was presented to the Owner and Designer and later considered for implementation into the subsequent design phases.
York Pump Station and North Creek Force Main
King County Public Utilities Department, Seattle, WA
Brown & Caldwell Value Engineering Team Member. A nationally recognized Value Engineering Facilitator selected Mr. Heden for his hydraulics and pressure pipeline design expertise for the VE Team's review of the preliminary design of this sewer lift station and force main project. The force main was comprised of cross-country dual/parallel HDPE pipelines of considerable length. Mr. Heden evaluated the force main and lift station hydraulics, the proposed pump selections, the proposed pump efficiencies over the range of operating conditions and alternative alignment for the dual force main. The Team together came up with over $10 Million in feasible construction cost savings for this high profile Seattle project.
