Jeff Heden has been a principal civil engineer in California since 1980 — bringing over four decades of focused expertise in water conveyance, wastewater systems, and hydraulic analysis. His career spans the full arc of civil engineering practice, from field-level design work at major national firms to serving as regional manager of a national engineering office, and ultimately founding J.C. Heden and Associates to deliver that same high-caliber expertise at a scale that puts clients first.
Jeff specializes in large-diameter, high-pressure water pipeline design and has personally overseen the design of more than 250 miles of pipelines throughout his career. His technical fluency extends to pump station and lift station design, transient hydraulics (water hammer analysis), and complex hydraulic modeling using the KYPIPE2012 platform. He is also a certified SWPPP Developer (QSD) and Practitioner (QSP) under California state standards, and holds civil engineering licensure in both California and Hawaii.
Beyond his design work, Jeff has presented technical papers on water supply and conveyance at national and local conferences, served as an expert witness, and contributed as a value engineering team member on major water and wastewater project reviews. He is an active member of AWWA, ASCE, WEF, NASTT, and the Order of the Engineer, and has mentored the next generation of engineers through the ASCE Mentor Board and the University of Utah Civil Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.
